How to complete Upstream’s streamlined KYC identity verification on the stock trading app
By Anastasia Samaras
Upstream traders are prompted to complete our light-touch KYC (Know Your Customer) identity verification process when your Upstream account balance reaches $500 or more, or when you’re withdrawing funds. Like the rest of our stock trading app experience, KYC identity verification was also designed to be as fast and frictionless as possible. Think of KYC as a high-tech handshake that not only verifies your identity but ensures the integrity of the entire trading community.
So, why is KYC so important?
Protecting your financial well-being is our top priority at Upstream, part of MERJ Exchange. As a fully regulated marketplace, verifying that you are who you say you are through KYC identity verification is legally required in order for you to trade safely and securely. This is to help prevent money laundering, illicit activity, and bad actors from entering our Upstream community. Whether you’re a first-time trader or a seasoned investor, KYC safeguards everyone involved.
Upstream’s KYC Identity Verification is Fast, Easy and Secure
We’ve designed our KYC process to be as streamlined and stress-free as possible so you can quickly continue stock trading. To get started, be sure you have the Upstream trading app downloaded and signed up:
What you’ll need: Valid ID (driver’s license or passport), and personal bank account or Ethereum address.
- Simply tap the profile icon in the app, then KYC. Complete a few pieces of personal information, snap a photo of your ID, and then we’ll verify your data.
- KYC identity verification time: Assuming you have provided the appropriate KYC information, approvals can be as fast as 15 minutes, and, depending on the date, time, and queue, it could take up to 48 hours (about 2 days), Monday to Friday. If additional information is required, or if we have many submissions awaiting approval, it could take up to 2 weeks.
Once approved, you can continue to fund, withdraw cash, and, of course, continue to trade all available quoted securities.
Your Information, Our Responsibility
At Upstream, we understand the importance of safeguarding your personal data, which is why we adhere to the strictest global data protection regulations. Every piece of submitted information is:
- Securely stored: We utilize a temporary cache system and never outsource verification to third parties.
- Never shared: Your data remains confidential and is only used for KYC identity verification purposes.
