Leverage Discord to expand your NFT audience

By Anastasia Samaras

Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) have the potential to revolutionize the way we interact with and own digital assets. However, in order to be successful, NFT projects need to overly communicate with their audience to share important updates, answer questions, and most importantly bring the community together to celebrate and talk about the campaign.

One of the tools our team has found success in with our various NFT campaign efforts is Discord. Discord is a free communications tool very popular in gaming and developer communities that allows you to communicate via voice, video, and text chat. With over 150 million active users, it is one of the most effective platforms for community building and development!

Discord is a great platform for rallying your existing audience around a campaign and for expanding your Web3 community. Discord offers a variety of features that make it ideal for NFT communities, including:

  • Text channels: Discord channels allow users to chat with each other in real-time. This is a great way to build relationships and share information with other NFT enthusiasts.
  • Voice channels: Discord also offers voice channels, which allow users to talk to each other in real-time. This is a great way to host events and discussions around an NFT campaign or Web3 event.
  • Bots: Discord bots can be used to automate tasks, such as moderating the community or announcing new NFT projects.

How Discord can help brands build their Web3 audience.

Discord was primarily built to complement gamers, e-sports, Twitch.tv, etc. We see a strong overlap between gamers and NFTs as digital asset ownership is built into a lot of games. The idea of a metaverse also already exists in places like Roblox and Fortnite, where digital ownership is key, and where avatars interact with real-world activities like hangouts and concerts. Simply speaking, metaverses are virtual worlds being built on top of the internet and many gamers/Discord users are already at the forefront of this new way to interact with the internet.

Brands can capitalize on this. As NFTs and the greater Web3 community are driven by the community, they’ve found a perfect fit with a communications platform like Discord. Many DeFi, NFT, and Metaverse platforms have official Discord servers to communicate with their audience.

Another major benefit of Discord is that it allows brands to engage with their audience in real-time. This feature is especially beneficial for NFT campaigns as it allows brands to promptly respond to inquiries, offer valuable assistance, and generate a sense of excitement around their project. It creates a more intimate experience with channels and the invite-only feel where users elect to be part of the conversations and add to them. By utilizing Discord, brands can establish a strong connection with their audience and foster a loyal following.

How Upstream uses Discord

Since many of the members of our team are familiar with Discord it was a natural fit for Upstream to use to promote its NFT campaigns and initiatives!

One of the main messages our Discord community will see is the announcement of new NFT campaigns. We encourage our Discord community to prepare and set up their Upstream accounts if they haven’t done so already. It is important to note that the preparations are necessary to participate in the NFT campaigns.

We provide a Support and FAQ channel on our Discord server to assist our community. Our team is available to answer questions, provide technical support, and resolve any issues. The support channel is a valuable resource for building trust and rapport with our community.

Discord has proven to be an invaluable asset for Upstream, serving as a dynamic and effective platform to connect, engage, and empower our target audience. Through Discord, we have successfully fostered trust and genuine rapport within our community, forging meaningful relationships that extend far beyond NFT transactions.
