Raise sponsorship by selling digital collectibles

By Fernanda De La Torre

This week, The Upstream team hosted the 13th episode of their “Upstream Up Close” series on Twitter Spaces. This ongoing series features 10–15 minute discussions on the exciting world of digital collectibles, Web3, and trading on Upstream, a MERJ Exchange market.

We took look at fan engagement, exploring how the relationship between athletes, teams, and fans has evolved over time. This discussion shed light on the rising trend of athletes embracing Collectibles as a means to deepen connections with their fans and boost engagement. Most importantly, we announced the launch of Upstream Accelerate.

Upstream Accelerate

Upstream Accelerate is an exciting new program empowering athletes to raise sponsorship through the sale of Collectibles. Athletes leverage their email and social media audience to share the opportunity for fans to sponsor their favorite athlete, while Upstream takes care of the collectible media, setup fees, and creation fees.

Fans can support their favorite athletes or teams by purchasing these exclusive Collectibles and receive exclusive content delivered straight to their portfolios in the Upstream app. These video-gifts could feature behind-the-scenes content, personalized greetings, or exclusive footage from events. These Collectibles offer a special way to connect with your fan base and show appreciation for their support.

Our program provides a simple avenue to help boost sponsorship and fan engagement without any upfront costs. When you think of sponsorships, you might envision hefty brand deals worth thousands or even millions of dollars. While those aren’t disappearing, we’re offering the opportunity for millions of fans to participate for as little as $10, $50, or even $100, allowing everyday supporters to become sponsors themselves Fans simply download the app, sign-up which creates a digital wallet to safely hold Collectibles, and purchase Collectibles with a credit/debit card, PayPal, USDC, or a bank payment.

This fosters a sense camaraderie, turning them into enthusiastic brand ambassadors who can proudly support your endeavors.

The first Upstream Accelerate Program initiative

Upstream Accelerates’ first initiative is in the thrilling motorsports racing community. Stay tuned for when we announce which racers we’re kicking things off with in the coming months.

Racers can launch a set of unique collectibles for each event they are participating in. These Collectibles could encompass digital representations of their race car, driver photos, or exclusive video content like behind-the-scenes footage or personalized greetings. This allows them to directly connect with their most dedicated supporters. Word of the segment:
